To explore potential impact of Aldh1a1 deficiency in the retinoic acid signaling in the lung, gene expression levels were compared between wildtype and Aldh1a1 deficient lung tissues. The expression levels of retinoic acid responsive genes were very similar between wildtype and Aldh1a1 deficient lungs, suggesting that Aldh1a1 deficiency has minimal impact on retinoic acid signaling. Overall design: Aldh1a1+/+ and Aldh1a1-/- mice were exposed to naphthalene (4 mg / 100µL corn oil, i.p.) and sacrificed on day 7 and 14. Lung tissues were isolated from two mice per group and enzymatically digested. Extracted and purified total RNA samples were used for RNA-seq analysis.
