Integrated analysis of miRNAome and transcriptome revealed the miRNA-mRNA network regulation in skeletal muscle fiber performance of chicken

Skeletal muscle fibers are mainly categorized into oxidative and glycolytic fiber types, and the ratios of different myofiber are important in determining livestock meat quality. However, there is little understanding of the molecular mechanism underlying the muscle fiber type determination in chicken. In this study, we systematically compared mRNA and microRNA transcriptome of the oxidative muscle sartorius (SART) and the glycolytic muscle pectoralis major (PMM) of Chinese Qingyuan partridge chickens using RNA sequencing.
