Transcriptional characterization of phagocytic vs. non-phagocytic cells during Staphylococcus aureus craniotomy infection

scRNA-seq of phagocytic vs. non phagocytic immune cells during acute S. aureus craniotomy infection Overall design: Mice were infected with a dsRed expressing strain of S. aureus (S. aureus-dsRed) using an established model of craniotomy infection. Animals were sacrificed at day 3 post-infection, whereupon CD45+ cells were purified by fluorescent-activated cell sorting (FACS) into phagocytic (dsRed+) and non-phagocytic (dsRed-) populations from the brain and galea and subjected to scRNA-seq using the 10X Genomics platform.
