Ponds

Ponds “retain” water with the water level controlled by a structure in order to regulate the flow into the storm water system. During periods of high runoff, the water level is designed to rise behind the inlet structure where they act as a series of small dams. The flow out of these ponds is controlled by an outlet structure to allow them to fill during periods of excessive runoff and then gradually drain as the runoff subsides.
