Single cell RNA sequencing of medial and lateral hippocampal network neurons in the mouse

By comparing single cell transcriptomes of neurons participating in medial vs. lateral hippocampal networks in the mouse, we identify Latrophilin-2 as a molecular marker of the lateral network. Overall design: We dissected vGlut1Cre+ neurons from P8 mice from 6 subregions: proximal CA1, distal CA1, medial entorhinal cortex, lateral entorhinal cortex, proximal subiculum, and distal subiculum, dissociated the tissue with papain, and performed plate-based SmartSeq2-based single cell RNA sequencing.
