This dataset contains anonymized responses from 510 participants across the EU, EEA, and Switzerland, recruited via the Prolific platform in 2025. The study explores user awareness, comprehension, behaviors, and attitudes toward privacy policies associated with Internet of Things (IoT) devices. The survey includes measures of:
Awareness - knowledge of presence of privacy policies.
Comprehension - level of understanding of various terms regarding data collection, data use, retention, and sharing.
Privacy behaviors - adjusting settings, purchase decisions.
Attitudes and concerns - comfort with data processing, trust level, privacy-functionality trade-offs.
Preferences - presentation of privacy choices, willingness to share personal data under various conditions.
The dataset supports quantitative research on privacy policy usability, the privacy paradox, user trust, and privacy control, and can be used for secondary analysis and teaching.
NOTE: Demographic data is not included in this version of dataset.
