Topics: 1. Housing: city size; living in the centre or outside; residential location; duration of residence at the place of residence; satisfaction with the place of residence (scalometer); duration of residence in the current dwelling; location and place of residence of the last dwelling; residential status of the last dwelling; reason for moving from the last dwelling; residential status of the current dwelling. 2. Housing costs and equipment: tenants were asked: rental contract at hand; amount of total monthly rent; heating and hot water costs included in rent; monthly flat rate for heating and hot water; cycle of ancillary costs; amount of annual ancillary costs; rent including cold (apportionable) ancillary costs; amount of monthly flat rate included in rent for cold (apportionable) ancillary costs or Amount paid in addition to rent per year; modernisation levies included in rent; amount of costs for garage, parking space or municipal car park management; assessment of rental costs; income and amount of housing allowance. Owners were asked: type of ownership acquisition (old stock, new construction, inheritance); state subsidy (KfW, state housing subsidy, municipal subsidy, owner-occupied home allowance); living space; number of living spaces; assessment of apartment size; equipment of the apartment; equipment of the apartment corresponds to the needs; construction period; type of house; structural condition of the building. 3. Satisfaction with the dwelling, the immediate living environment and the environmental conditions (scalometer). 4. Residential area and social structure: description of the residential environment and the residential area; structure of the residential area (old buildings, newer houses or pure new housing); single or two-family houses or larger apartment blocks; subjectively perceived population composition in the residential area. 5. Neighbourhood and integration: relationship between Germans and foreigners in the residential environment; attitude towards the spatial separation of Germans and foreigners in a neighbourhood; German citizenship; contacts with foreigners and Germans in the neighbourhood. 6. Mobility: intention to move; motives for moving; relocation preference (geographical position, place of residence, residential environment); persons or things the respondent would miss in the case of relocation; assessment of personal economic situation compared to five years ago; expected personal economic situation in 5 years; employment status; assessment of personal job security; problems in reconciling family and career; distance between home and workplace; means of transport used to get to work; driving licence; number of cars in the household. Demography: sex; age; marital status; household type; employment status; full-time or part-time employment; occupational status; employee status, worker status or civil servant status; school leaving certificate; completed vocational training or study; household size; household composition: number of children up to 6 years of age, from 6 to 13 years of age, adolescents from 14 to 17 years of age and persons from 18 years of age; number of income earners in the household; net household income; employment status of other persons in the household or unemployed, pensioners or students in the household; life satisfaction (scale). Additionally coded: federal state; east/west; BIK municipality type; survey year; weighting factors.
