Lab #3 Insect species caught using different coloured pantraps

Pantraps of various colours were set in the grassland and woodlot at York University. The traps were coloured plates filled with soapy water. 10 traps of alternating colours were laid down in straight lines in both the woodlot and grassland areas at the beginning of our lb session, and checked at the end. We counted the different species caught, and the number of individual insects within each species. Species were identified by their physical features alone. The traps had been sitting for approximately 2 hours, in the late afternoon period of the day. Conditions were sunny and warm, and were ideal for insects.
