Coding Matrix for "The Limits of Information: Coordinating Multiple Time Horizons in Sustainable Agricultural Value Chains"

This repository contains the coding matrix and associated coding notes used in the study, “The Limits of Information: Coordinating Multiple Time Horizons in Sustainable Agricultural Value Chains.” The matrix was developed through a comparative interpretive analysis of 27 sustainability-oriented agricultural value-chain initiatives spanning public programs, international development organizations, corporate sustainability strategies, supranational policy frameworks, and multi-stakeholder initiatives. Coding focused on governance mechanisms, coordination arrangements, sustainability objectives, verification systems, implementation strategies, temporal assumptions, and institutional responses to sustainability challenges. The matrix served as both a data-management and analytic tool during iterative qualitative coding and theory development. These materials are provided to enhance transparency, reproducibility, and secondary analysis of the study’s findings concerning value-chain governance, sustainability transitions, temporal coordination, and sustainability governance.
