Northern bottlenose whale (Hyperoodon ampullatus) GBIF-derived occurrence records for Greenland waters — filtered dataset feb 2026

GBIF-mediated occurrence records for northern bottlenose whale (Hyperoodon ampullatus) in Greenland waters, downloaded from GBIF in Feb 2026 and filtered for use in spatial occurrence analysis. Records were excluded if coordinate uncertainty exceeded 50 km, if date information was invalid or missing, or if no coordinates were available. Duplicate records representing the same sighting encounter were deduplicated to one master record per encounter.Records are distributed across sources as follows: iNaturalist (n=10), DFO/At-Sea Fisheries Observer/NAFO (n=9), Observation.org (n=5), Happywhale (n=4), HMAP (n=2), and a material sample (n=1).
