Supporting Data for "Taxonomic Profile of Ageratum conyzoides L. and Conoclinium coelestinum (L.) DC. (Asteraceae: Eupatorieae) in Southern Nigeria"

This dataset contains the supporting research data and documentation associated with the manuscript “Taxonomic Profile of Ageratum conyzoides L. and Conoclinium coelestinum (L.) DC. (Asteraceae: Eupatorieae) in Southern Nigeria.” The dataset documents the comparative taxonomic investigation of the two morphologically similar Eupatorieae taxa across three localities in southern Nigeria. It includes specimen and voucher metadata, final sampling information, morphological and anatomical data, chemotaxonomic/GC–MS data, multivariate analytical outputs, and structured data supporting the anatomical identification key presented in the manuscript. The archive also contains clearly separated historical/exploratory datasets associated with an earlier five-locality sampling design. These historical datasets are provided for transparency and provenance and are not used as the primary evidence for the final three-locality taxonomic conclusions. The anatomical data document diagnostic characters including nodal cortex geometry, secondary vascular-bundle number, and mature petiole vascular-bundle configuration. The chemotaxonomic data provide complementary evidence for comparison between the two taxa. The archive also includes a data dictionary, README documentation, and a manuscript–data crosswalk to facilitate interpretation and reproducibility. Where individual-level raw data were not available, summary values are reported as such and no missing observations have been reconstructed or inferred. Analytical outputs are distinguished from raw or summary data where applicable. This repository is intended to provide transparent access to the data supporting the associated publication and to facilitate reproducibility, verification, and future comparative taxonomic research on Ageratum, Conoclinium, and related members of Asteraceae.
