资源简介:
Between September and October 2007 an archaeological excavation was carried out by Birmingham Archaeology on land situated off Pershore Road, Eckington, Worcestershire (centred on NGR S0 9213416) ahead of construction work for new housing. The work was commissioned by Thomas Vale Construction and followed previous trial trenching. The features, deposits and structures across the site can be divided into 6 phases of activity ranging from the Neolithic to post 2nd century AD. Evidence of Neolithic and Late Iron Age activity was discovered in the form of a Neolithic pit and a probable Late Iron Age ring gully. Also revealed were complex sequences of archaeological deposits dating to the Romano-British period, including a human burial dating to the 1st-2nd Century AD. Evidence for later activity on the site was scarce, with the historic maps suggesting the area had never been developed and had primarily been used for agriculture.
