Archaeological dental calculus metagenomes from the Bronze Age to the Middle Ages

Archaeological dental calculus preserves the ancient oral microbiome of past individuals. In this study, the dental calculus of individuals dating to the Bronze Age, Iron Age, Roman era, and Middle Ages were sequenced. We explore whether the oral microbiome along the Lower Danube had shifted following the arrival of the Roman Empire.
