Partial COX1 sequences of Cimex hemipterus from Indonesia

Bed bugs are a growing public health concern in tropical countries like Indonesia. This study aimed to identify the species responsible for infestations across the country using both morphological and molecular methods. Specimens were collected from 10 locations, including Central Java, Papua, and Kalimantan. In total, 101 <i>Cimex hemipterus</i> were identified based on physical features, and 23 of them were further analyzed using<i> COX1</i> gene sequencing. Morphological results confirmed all samples as <i>C. hemipterus</i>, with pronotum ratios matching known identification keys. <i>COX1</i> sequences showed 98.61% to 99.77% similarity with samples from Malaysia and Iraq.
