Metadata associated with: Co-circulating TBEV lineages and evidence for vertical transmission in wild bank voles from Poland
收藏资源简介:
Description This dataset contains individual-level metadata for 258 wild bank voles (Clethrionomys glareolus) collected from three woodland sites (Urwitałt, Tałty and Pilchy) in the Mazury Lake District, north-eastern Poland, during August–September 2018. The data accompany the manuscript "Co-circulating TBEV lineages and evidence for vertical transmission in wild bank voles from Poland." The study investigated the ecology of tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) in a natural reservoir host using molecular, serological and phylogenetic approaches. Brain tissues were analysed for TBEV RNA using nested RT-PCR, serum samples were tested for anti-TBEV IgG antibodies by indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFA), and embryos from pregnant females were examined for evidence of vertical transmission. The associated publication reports the first near-complete TBEV genome sequences from Poland, demonstrates the co-circulation of two genetically distinct TBEV-European subtype lineages within a small geographic area, and provides evidence consistent with vertical transmission in wild bank voles. The dataset contains one record per individual animal and includes unique specimen identifiers, sampling locality, sex, age class, pregnancy and lactation status, number of embryos (where applicable), molecular detection of TBEV RNA (RT-PCR), and anti-TBEV IgG serological status. These metadata were used for all prevalence and seroprevalence analyses presented in the accompanying manuscript. The dataset is provided to facilitate reproducibility of the published analyses and to support future comparative studies on the ecology, epidemiology and evolution of tick-borne encephalitis virus in wildlife reservoir hosts.
