The purpose of this project is the sequencing, assembly, and annotation of the genome of Asbolus verrucosus. It is a dominant animal in the North American hot desert biome and has the longest-lived adults of any beetle on record. The annotated genome will allow comparisons with other organisms to help elucidate some of the unique biology of this species.
