资源简介:
Lipoprotein function is to carry fats in our body. HDL is able to remove cholesterol thanks to reverse cholesterol transport which requires enzymes and receptors to work. HDL is also able to exchange lipids to a greater extent than LDL in a receptor free mode. Not all HDL exchanges lipids to the same extent. The capacity of HDL to exchange lipids depends on the apolipoprotein content and probably also on the lipid cargo. In this proposal we aim at quantifying HDL capacity to exchange lipids as a function of apolipoprotein type (ApoA-I and a single amino acid mutant that is pathogenic) and lipid cargo (saturated vs unsaturated lipids) usign neutron reflection. The data will clarify the observed effects we see in HDL extracted from adult human male blood. This data is very important to understand the function of HDL and designed therapeutics against atherosclerosis.
