VPRS 1167 Register of Inward Correspondence (Private Secretary to the Premier)

This series registers inward correspondence received by the Secretary to the Premier.The register records each item of correspondences number, when received, the name of writer, subject matter and any action taken by the Secretary.The inward correspondence was often forwarded to another recipient or agency for action. Some items of the Secretarys correspondence were attached to existing inward correspondence files in the agencys main correspondence series (or Public Book), registered with PROV as VPRS 1163 Inward Correspondence Files. In this case, the new registration number of the file is recorded in red in the Action taken column.The correspondence files that this register controls are not in PROV custody (except for those which became part of VPRS 1163 - consult the Records Description List to see if these files are extant/in custody).This series was previously registered with the title Register of Correspondence. In 1999, it was reserialised. The former units 2 - 11 were reserialised as VPRS 12480 Register to Premiers Personal Correspondence Files (1956 - 1972).
