Modified bounce-averaged pitch-angle diffusion model output included as apart of data avaliability for the publication to appear in Journal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics Python was used to create the ".pickle" files "Bkscat_sim.pickle" file contains the simluation results plotted on Figure 5b: Variable name "aL" is the local pitch angle at 450km altitude in degrees Variable name "Ek" is the energy in keV Variable name "fL" is the simulated distribution with backscatter effects, indexed in the order of [pitch angle, energy], not normalized. Variable name "fLQL" is the simulated distribution without backscatter effects, indexed in the order of [pitch angle, energy], not normalized. "Db_vs_L.pickle" file is calcucated backscattered induced pitch-angle diffusion in units of per second "Fb_calc.pickle" file is the calcucated fraction backscattered values: Variable name "Fb" is the fraction of electrons backscattered indexed in the order of [pitch angle, energy]: Variable name "aL_100km" is the local pitch angle mapped to 100km altitude as done in the paper Variable name "Ek" is the kinetic energy of the electron in keV ELFIN data used in this work is stored in the .csv files for the raw statistical pitch-angle distribution, and also the interpolated pitch-angle distribution for bins near the loss cone.
