Data collected in field validation at two field test sites in Barataria Bay and Breton Sound, Louisiana on 2019-09-03

This experiment was conducted to test the performance of the new equipment (centrifugal platform). Seawater samples were collected from two locations (station 7 and 33) in the Gulf of Mexico on September 03, 2019. Both filtered and unfiltered samples were obtained. Filtration was done with 0.47µm filter paper to remove phytoplankton. The testing involved irradiation of filtered and unfiltered water from two locations (station 7 and 33) with ultraviolet light at 365 nm and the fluorescence intensities were recorded. This was followed by irradiation of combinations of distilled water or filtered and unfiltered water from the 2 locations with nonane, or 5 or 10 ppm crude oil.
