VPRS 16858 Trainee Nurses' Lecture Notes

This series is a collection of handouts and notes from lectures given to trainee nurses by the Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) School of Nursing. Most of the material is from the 1950s. The majority of the material was donated to the RCH Archives in 1999 (via the League of Former Trainees) by Valerie Taylor (nee Boardman). Valerie trained at RCH from 1951 to 1954 when she graduated mid year. She remained at the RCH for a number of years and completed postgraduate/specialist nurse training during that time. In the 1950s, nurses trained on the job at the RCH School of Nursing for three and a half years, 6 months of which was spent at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.Other trainees who material in this series:- Margaret Holland. Trained in the early 1960s and graduated in 1963.- Carmel Bunworth (later McMennemin). Three months Paediatric training at RCH in the 1950s; was a trainee nurse at St. Vincent's Hospital.- Margaret Downie. Trained in the 1950s and graduated in 1953.- Marion Johnstone.
