To date, no quantitative studies about material transport in the mesoscale eddies were reported. Therefore, combining water isotopes with on-site hydrological and physicochemical parameters to quantify mesoscale processes and the vertical transport of substances in the region is of great significance for deepening the eco-environmental effects and efficient carbon output mechanisms caused by mesoscale processes. To achieve this goal, this study combined satellite altimeter datasets to capture a cold eddy and a warm eddy during field voyage surveys in the wNPO, investigating dual water isotopes, hydrology, and other chemical parameters (including nutrients and dissolved organic carbon) in the water column.
