Annelid adult cell type diversity and their pluripotent cellular origins

We used scRNA-seq to profile 75,218 single cell transcriptomes of Pristina leidyi, a highly regenerative and asexually-reproducing freshwater annelid. We characterized all major adult cell types, their transcription factors and gene networks, and uncovered an abundant population of putative stem cells with a pluripotent signature. Overall design: We obtained cell dissociations from adult populations of Pristina leidyi containing intact organisms at mixed stages, including fission stages. PacBio Iso-Seq sequencing was done on a single mixed sample, and no quantitative analysis is intended from the sample.
