The effective utilization of slag-based Silicon fertilizer (Si fertilizer) in agriculture turns it into high value added product for sustainable agriculture. Our understanding of microbial role in ecosystem functions and agricultural productivity in response to Si fertilization is however, elusive. In this study we examined the effects of Si fertilizer amendment on taxonomic and functional structure of rhizosphere microbial community in Japonica and Indica rice cultivated under flooded conditions.
