Genome assembly of the Apicomplexan parasite Hepatocystis from a Piliocolobus blood sample. Genome assembly of the Apicomplexan parasite Hepatocystis

Genomic sequencing reads similar to the Apicomplexan parasite Hepatocystis were identified in data derived from a blood sample of the red colobus monkey Piliocolobus. Reads relating to the parasite genome were isolated from the data and used to produce a separate genome assembly. The sequence was then annotated manually with the benefit of RNA-seq data, also from the blood of the red colobus monkeys.
