The big dog play and motivation questionnaire responses, intra-rater and inter-rater responses

This dataset contains anonymised responses to the Big Dog Play and Motivation Questionnaire, designed to assess variation in play motivation, toy engagement, and behavioural regulation in pet, sport, and working dogs. The questionnaire was developed and validated as part of research on addictive-like behaviour towards toys in dogs (Mazzini et al., 2025). It includes items from the Addictive-like Behaviour Questionnaire for Dogs (AB-Q) as well as questions on demographic, developmental, and behavioural traits.Data were collected between February 2019 and April 2020 via an online survey available in English and German. Participation was voluntary, and no identifying information was collected. The questionnaire included Likert-scale items, categorical variables (e.g., breed group, sex/neuter status, purpose), and open-ended responses. Responses were cleaned and coded in R (version 4.4.2) for statistical analysis, including linear and non-parametric models (GLM, Kruskal–Wallis, and Dunn tests).
