Metagenomic assembly of Candidatus Midichloriaceae symbionts of Euplotes. Candidatus Midichloriaceae

Candidatus Midichloriaceae is a family of Rickettsiales whose representatives show - to this date - an exclusively symbiotic life-style. Recent studies focusing on this group of microbes suggest that their target hosts and their host habitat distribution is extremely diverse and widespread, therefore putting a spotlight on their evolutionary and ecological importance. The project aims to fill some of the the knowledge gaps regarding this group of symbionts, particularly those involved in symbiotic consortia within ciliates.
