In order to study the importance of vaginal seeding in early life development, stool samples from vaginally seeded or control infants were inoculated into germ-free mice. Stool samples were collected from mice pre-inoculation and at week 2, 4 and 6 post-inoculation. 16S rRNA sequencing was performed on these stool samples from the 2 study groups using Illumina Miseq platform.
