资源简介:
The lithograph titled Venice is one of a series produced while the artist was conducting a residency in Italy at the Venice Print workshop. The work extends the boundaries between sculpture, drawing , digaital imaging and printmaking, given that the artist produced a 3 dimensional sculpture, in pipe cleaners, photographed , scanned and manipulated the image, then concieved the work finally as a multi coloured lthograph. The work was researched directly from the Venice residency and references the fragility and endurance of the ancient architecture in its aquatic environment. The work was selected by curator Associate Professor Peter Ellis for the exhibition Magnetic Islands, as it exemplified the contemporary nature of drawing in that technologies of the past are infused with the digital and the virtual in terms of concept, composition. line and colour. Louise Weaver was selected for the Venice Residency by Anne Virgo , Director of the Australian Print Workshop. To celebrate the diversity of contemporary drawing, Peter Ellis selected 18 artists to represent RMIT School of Art, and 14 artists from College of Fine Arts Seoul National University, South Korea. The works chosen include traditional and new media and a broard range of visual and conceptual approaches to Drawing. This exhibition is part of a major international Drawing conference and series of exhibitions under the title of Drawing Out. A colour catalogue of Magnetic Islands contains an essay by Associate Professor Peter Ellis and Gallery Coordinator Stephen Gallagher and highlights the long standing association RMIT University has had with South Korea.
