WORLD Paid Personal Health Leave Policies 2022

The WORLD Policy Analysis Center (WORLD) is committed to improving the quantity and quality of globally comparative data available to policymakers, citizens, civil society, and researchers on laws and policies that work to support human rights, including economic opportunity, social and civic engagement, human health, development, well-being, and equity. The WORLD Paid Personal Health Leave Policies 2022 dataset was created to assess progress on laws guaranteeing workers paid leave to meet their personal health needs through a systematic review of legislation governing paid leave across all 193 UN countries as of January 2022. Paid leave for personal health needs supports job and income security while enabling workers to stay home and recover, reducing infectious disease spread and improving individual health outcomes. The dataset covers employer and social security paid leave for everyday and serious health needs, including duration, wage replacement rate, waiting periods, and eligibility criteria.
