Archaeology and UXO survey at Borssele Windfarm I/II, North Sea.

<p>ADC Maritiem has conducted an archaeological supervision of an UXO survey and construction works in the wind farm zones Borssele I and II near the Southern border of the Dutch Exclusive Economic Zone and adjacent to the Belgian EEZ. During the investigations of MAG anomalies five possible archaological remains were reported: two aircrash related individual objects, one isolated nautical find, a wooden shipwreck and an air crash site. During the construction phase of the cable routes, pleistocene mammal bones were found as well. These were handed over to ADC and investigated by our specialist. Possible impact on the air crash site and the wooden shipwreck was mitigated in the first place by conducting additional geophysical reseach to determine the extensions of the sites. In the second place construction work was planned to avoid any impact. Both sites are left in situ for possible future research.</p>
