Pteris vittata, an arsenic hyperaccumulator, is often employed in As-contaminated soil phytoremediation. Root-associated bacteria (RAB) of P. vittata might develop specific strategies to adapt to As contamination and improve fitness and growth of the host. As(III)-oxidizing RAB of P. vittata may facilitate the host survival under As-rich conditions by converting arsenite (As(III)) to less toxic arsenate (As(V)). However, knowledge of RAB of P. vittata responsible for As(III) oxidation remained limited.
