Use of multimedia internet services by general practitioners.<br>Topics: use of the following devices within the practice: PC, Macintosh, notebook, PDA; connection of the aforementioned devices to the internet or to a dedicated general practitioners network; use of the internet or of a dedicated general practitioners network for any of the following purposes: access medical associations’ websites, search for prescribing information, access information for own education, exchange views with other doctors, consult medical journals, send or receive patient identifiable data; use of the internet or of a dedicated general practitioners network with regard to sending or receiving patient identifiable data: submit patient care imbursement claims, transfer administrative patient data to a secondary care provider, transfer patient medical data to other medical care providers, receive diagnostic results, exchange emails with patients, offer telemedicine services to patients, electronic prescribing; form of patients’ consent for transferring personal data: written, oral, no consent; use of electronic signatures in communicating patient medical data: for any communication, for some communications; use of Electronic Health Care Record (EHCR): provided by national or regional health authority, purchased specifically for the practice, no use; website for own practice: with administrative information only, with administrative information plus health information, with interactive patient appointment scheduling, no website. Demography: occupation; sex; age; type of community; size of practice. Additionally coded was: country; weighting factor.
