Seed fungal communities collected from PNW prairie grasses. Fungus metagenomes

Plant demographers measure aspects of host reproduction and survival, including the number of seedlings, but rarely measure what affects germination, such as seed type, climate and fungi. We examined the fungal communities in and on chasmogamous (external, wind-pollinated) and cleistogamous (internal, self-fertilized) seeds of two grass species across a latitudinal gradient in the PNW, USA. We analysed seed pathogen composition with germination success and climate.
