Noi estranei a discussioni d'indole politica. Pietro Marti e il fascismo (Editoriale, Auguri e promesse, in "Fede", a. III, n. 1, 1 gennaio 1925)

The contribution aims to highlight the attitude of the journalist Marti in the face of the Roman event of the "March" on the Capital City (1922) and the consolidation of the fascist regime, seen in the light of its journalistic production and of the literary and artistic dissemination, in Salento, in the works of the period 1919-1925. Figures such as those of his son Alberto, an early "squadrista", also emerge from the contribution. But Marti, for his solid secular conscience and for the strong urgency of intellectual freedom, analyzes events and people, with conferences and writings in which democratic-Risorgimento paths resurface. With the magazine "Fede" (1 December 1923) he aims at the moral and civil renewal of Italy and Salento, but then, after the enactment of the "special laws", he folds back, with "La Voce del Salento" (15 January 1926) on concrete problems dictated by the ancestral backwardness of the provincial structures. The parable of Pietro Marti's initial ideal adhesion to fascism will, therefore, fade in the face of the eternal urgencies of Salento, in the bitter realization of the unsolved problems of his land.
