WAU017 - Wauyai Ma'ya - Miscellaneous elicited data (minimal pairs, morphosyntactic data)

This dataset contains miscellaneous elicited data from the Wauyai dialect of Ma'ya with Pilipus Gimla (born 1955) and Daniel Gaman (born 1960), both native speakers of Wauyai Ma'ya. The data includes minimal pairs; checks on tonal specifications of items recorded in earlier sessions; checks on verbal subject-marking inflection; a paradigm for the locative marker; reciprocal constructions; the animacy of 'sun', 'moon', 'star', and words referring to creepy-crawlies; checks on motion markers. The session was recorded on 23 February 2023, in Waimalata hamlet (Waigeo island, Raja Ampat regency, Southwest Papua province, Indonesia). This dataset relates to the British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship 'Synchronic and diachronic investigations in Raja Ampat-South Halmahera, a little-known subbranch of Austronesian' (PF19@004); additional fieldwork funds were provided by a British Academy Small Grant (SG1920@342).
