Datasets related to the creation of a novel, cheap, replicable, and field relevant ecotoxicological laboratory method for testing non-target soil insects. Lasius neoniger is agriculturally wide-spread, and easy to rear under laboratory conditions. Soil applications of imidacloprid at below 0.1% of recommended field rates are lethal to a common non-target ant species. Imidacloprid significantly impacted ant grooming, decreasing chance of survival.
