Selenium (Se) is an essential trace element for humans, and the production of Se-enriched rice (Oryza sativa) is a key approach for Se supplementation. However, the mechanisms of Se absorption and transport during the rice seedling stage are not yet well understood. Therefore, we conducted a hydroponic experiment and used tran-scriptome analysis to study the absorption and transformation processes of Na2SeO3 and SeMet in rice seedlings. The total Se concentration in seedlings was higher under the SeMet treatments, and low Se applications significantly promoted plant growth. SeCys and SeMet were the primary forms of Se in rice.
