Survey of gut microbial biogeography and their functional niche in the swine

The goal is to assess the spatial patterns of microbial communities in the gut of healthy fattening swine by high-throughput sequencing focusing on the diversity, composition, and function of microorganisms in five intestinal regions, i.e., the duodenum, jejunum, ileum, cecum, and colon. After two months of feeding trial, the animals were humanely killed, and the intestinal contents from the five intestinal regions were collected.
