资源简介:
The Excavation Index (EI) is a guide to the archaeological excavations and interventions carried out in England since the earliest days of scientific archaeology, and an index to the location of the excavation archives and finds. It is part of the National Monuments Record, England's heritage archive. The Excavation Index records archaeological events, the majority encompassing excavations, evaluations & watching briefs since 1960, geophysical surveys and fieldwork funded by Historic England & its predecessors. The EI is updated with information from a wide range of published and non-published sources. Trawling of relevant journals, reports and monographs is augmented by direct data exchange with a number of contractors and curators across the country. The Archaeology Data Service holds a regularly updated subset of the full computerised record held at the National Monuments Record. These records form part of the ADS catalogue and may be searched as a set or in parallel with some or all of the ADS collections. The records contain information about the nature and location of the intervention, who carried out the work, the location of any associated physical archives and the National Record of the Historic Environment identifier for the record to help researchers to get more information directly from Historic England.
