HuSHeM (Human Sperm Head Morphology Dataset)

Semen samples were collected from 15 patients at the Isfahan Fertility and Infertility Center. Sperm samples were fixed and stained using the Diff-Quick method. A total of 725 images were captured using an Olympus CX21 microscope equipped with a ×100 objective lens and ×10 eyepieces, paired with a Sony color camera (model SSC-DC58AP). Each image has a resolution of 576×720 pixels. From these images, three experts cropped the sperm heads and categorized them into five classes: Normal, Pyriform, Tapered, Amorphous, and Others. After classification, only samples with a collective consensus on their category were retained in the dataset. This dataset includes four classes: Normal, Pyriform, Tapered, and Amorphous. The resulting sperm head dataset, designated as the Human Sperm Head Morphology Dataset (HuSHeM), comprises four folders, each corresponding to a specific sperm shape category. The folder names reflect the shape of the enclosed images. There are 54 normal sperm heads, 53 tapered sperm heads, 57 pyriform sperm heads, and 52 amorphous sperm heads in total. All sperm head images are in RGB format with a size of 131×131 pixels.
