Births, Stillbirths and Infant Mortality in the GDR

The dataset contains information on births, stillbirths and infant mortality on the canton and national level for the years 1952 to 1990. For the years 1970 to 1989 the data also contains information on births and infant mortality on the county level. The information is based on the Statistical Yearbooks of the German Democratic Republic. The State Central Bureau for Statistics recorded the number of births, still births and infant mortality on a yearly basis.
