Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an important oportunistic pathogen and a major factor in the morbi-mortality of immunocompromised patients. Strain Pae221_ST274 is a Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolate that was recovered from blood culture during a multicentre study which included 10 Spanish hospitals. This strain belongs to the ST274, an international epidemic high risk clone, which is also a cystic fibrosis epidemic clone circulating in Spain. Strain Pae221_ST274 is a strong biofilm-producer and also presents a remarkable pigment production in presence of divalent cations. Overexpression of several genes related with biofilm and quorum sensing (QS) was observed for this strain by Real Time PCR. Sequencing of the Pae221_ST274 complete genome was carried out in order to get a deeper insight into biofilm and QS-related production of this strain
