Cryptosporidium sp. oocysts and Giardia spp. cysts in 24 hour wastewater composite material in Latvia

The Excel database contains data about Cryptosporidium spp. and Giardia spp. from 24-hour wastewater composite samples from at least 14 different municipalities in Latvia, starting from 2021. Total number of collected and tested samples - 1463. The samples were prepared by the sedimentation technique, but stained with immunofluorescence. Viability was determined by DAPI staining. The municipalities included in this database are - Bauska, Daugavpils, Jelgava, Jēkabpils, Jūrmala, Liepāja, Limbaži, Madona, Rezekne, Rīga, Salaspils, Saldus, Talsi, Tukums, Valmiera, Ventspils). The database contains information on the date and time of sample collection (if recorded), the concentration of Cryptosporidium spp. and Giardia duodenalis in 100 ml samples, and the number of viable (oo)cysts of both parasites in 100 ml samples. Additional information about minimal, maximal and average temperature, and precipitation was also added from meteo.lv, for the collection date. Samples were collected from August 2021 to June 2023, twice weekly.
