Genetic mapping of critical photoperiod divergence in common monkeyflower

This project aims to discover genomic regions that harbor natural variants that alter the minimal day length necessary to induce flowering, or critical photoperiod, among populations of the common monkeyflower. Because critical photoperiods are shorter for populations from areas with earlier, warmer, and drier seasons, identifying these variants is informative about the mechanisms by which populations adapt to climate stresses in nature.
