Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis is the etiological agent of a disease that causes caseous lymphadenitis (CLA) in small ruminants. This bacterium possess veterinary relevance, generating economic losses around the world, due to the reduction of milk, meat and wool production. This strain came from Río Frio, Mexico, and was isolated from caseous matherial found in a female sheep, confirmed by biochemical analyses.
