This dataset contains growing degree-day and phenology observations of the wheat stem sawfly (<i>Cephus cinctus</i>) across multiple wheat fields in Colorado from 2011 to 2023. Data includes site locations, collection years, station names, sampling dates, and wheat stem sawfly counts. The dataset supports a phenology model predicting insect development based on environmental conditions.<br>Dataset also contain daily weather records for New Raymer, Colorado, during the year 2011 to 2023. The dataset includes daily maximum and minimum temperatures (in Fahrenheit), precipitation (rainfall in inches), and snowfall (in inches). The data was collected from a weather station in the region and serves as an environmental dataset useful for this study. These datasets includes not only New Raymer survey and weather information, but also from Byers. Although we dropped the Byers in our analysis due to a very small number of wss captured.<br>Finally, the attached R script contains the full statistical analysis and visualization of wheat stem sawfly phenology using Generalized Additive Mixed Models (GAMM). The script processes environmental and observational data collected across multiple sites in Colorado wheat fields, fitting GAMM models to analyze the relationship between temperature (growing degree days) and sawfly emergence, including random effects.
