THE TROJAN MYTH AS AN ELEMENT OF CULTURAL MEMORY IN EUROPEAN LITERATURE: FROM HOMER TO MODERN PROSE

The article examines the Trojan myth as one of the most significant elements of cultural memory in European literature. The study analyzes the role of the ancient mythological tradition in shaping the artistic consciousness of European culture. Particular attention is paid to the Trojan cycle of myths embodied in Homer’s epic poems The Iliad and The Odyssey, as well as to its subsequent reinterpretation in the European literary tradition. Based on comparative-historical and cultural approaches, the research demonstrates that the Trojan myth functions as a universal mechanism for preserving historical experience and cultural memory.
