VITamins And Lifestyle (VITAL). Homo sapiens

The VITamins And Lifestyle (VITAL) cohort comprises of 77,721 Washington State men and women aged 50 to 76 years. Participants were recruited by mail from 2000 to 2002 using names purchased from a commercial mailing list, with the aim to investigate the association of supplement use and lifestyle factors with cancer risk. Participants completed an extensive questionnaire and provide buccal-cell specimens for DNA. Cancer cases were identified using the Washington SEER cancer registry. A nested case-control set was genotyped using Illumina HumanCytoSNP.
