We firstly present a high quality de novo reference genome assembly of P. vannamei. The characteristics of the genome sequence for shrimp were analyzed, and the genome data provide great support for understanding the benthic swimming adaptation and molting process in shrimp, and provide a valid genetic resource for shrimp breeding.
